Integral Fascial Yoga
It is a return to sensing, to conscious presence in the body.
My name is Aleksandra, and I’m excited to share this unique and emerging approach with you as an international ambassador representing the Institute of Integral Fascial Yoga.
Integral Fascial Yoga originates from Poland and was created by my teacher, Wojciech Karczmarzyk, who combined yoga with his experience as a Rolfer. He was inspired by pioneers like Vanda Scaravelli, Ida Rolf, and many others.
Ida Rolf and Vanda Scaravelli shared a vision of the body guided by release, gravity, and natural alignment. Their work revealed the body’s innate intelligence — a foundation that inspires the practice of Integral Fascial Yoga.
What makes this practice unique is that we don’t stretch the muscles directly. Instead, we decompress the fascia — the connective tissue — and this allows the muscles to lengthen effortlessly, creating more space in the body.
That is why smaller ranges of motion, stillness, exploring only 50–70% of your possibilities, micromovements, or floor-based body release can feel so revolutionary. This letting go allows us to fully open to the sensations arising from the body – sensations that expand body awareness and can become a gateway to a calm mind.
Each action is filled with awareness
During the practice, we focus on working with:
Gravity
which forms the foundation for relaxation and effortlessness
Perception
which brings more awareness and inner presence.
Tonic muscles
the muscles responsible for posture.
Intuition
allowing us to explore positions and movements without rigid instructions.
Through this approach you may experience:
- Deep relaxation,
- Release of tension from the body and fascia,
- More freedom and space in your body,
- Balanced posture in the line of gravity,
- Nervous system regeneration,
- Restored sense of safety in the body,
- Renewed energy and lightness,
- Integration of body and mind,
- Immersion in calmness.
During classes, we invite exploration of the body in a way that allows it to become sensitive and receptive – a body that listens inwardly and outwardly and at the same time, remains calm and integrated.
The essence of this practice is presence – experiencing yourself and the world from a place of awareness.
For me, Integral Fascial Yoga is like an immersion into the natural rhythm of the body – its innate intelligence and interconnectedness – but at the same time, an immersion into pure being – a presence that feels like the very essence of our existence.
